I really like the idea of being a runner. There’s really no equipment – just sneakers – and anywhere you go, you can run. It sounds great!
At the beach all the runners seem to get up at dawn. I’d also like to be a morning person. Getting up at dawn with the desire to run sounds just…exhilarating.
Husband is signing up for another 5k, in May. I’d like to do it with him. Sure, I can easily walk 5k but I don’t want to be one of the lame walking people. I want to run it!
It was suggested I get a Couch-to-5k app for my phone. There’s 47 or so to chose from. Some are eight week programs, and some are nine weeks. I’m assuming the nine week programs are slightly easier, since it takes an extra week. Easier appeals to me.
There’s still too many to chose from so I post a request for recommendations on Facebook. I get a few and download one of the free ones that was recommended.
I’m going to be a runner! In eight short weeks I’ll be ready to run a 5k! Go, me!
I open up the app and read about the first workout. It calls for a 5 minute brisk walk to warm up, followed by alternating jogging for 60 seconds, and walking for 90 seconds.
It sounds exhausting.
Plus, I cannot believe there’s jogging the first time out. Can’t we start with a nice long walk, and work up to jogging??
This sounds like a lot of work. I’m not sure I’m ready to get off the couch yet.
